An interview is a crucial part of the selection process, that helps recruiters choose the right candidate. With proper planning and preparation for an interview, a candidate can create a favourable impression, thereby bagging the job.

Before the interview, it is important to be sure about the job description. Candidates must read up on relevant topics about the company and industry that they are applying to. Carry your necessary documents - a copy of your resume, photographs, degree certificates, etc. "A candidate should dress up professionally, this will give the recruiters a good first impression. While it is important to look neat, one must be composed, confident and mentally prepared to face the interview,"

1. Resume/CV – Preparation Tips:

§  Keep your title based on your details. Resume for a fresher and Curriculum Vita for experienced persons
§  Keep changing your Career objective based on the job profile
§  Maintain proper contact information about contact number and E-Mail ID
§  Maintain your resume only in a single font model and single font size
§  Don’t use short forms of your details give full abbreviations of degree and institution
§  Elaborate your technical knowledge as much as you can
§  Keep your strengths and hobbies which you can explain about them
§  Submit your resume with signature and date in case of hard copy
§  Have complete knowledge about your resume

2. Telephonic Round:

           The companies conduct telephonic round to reduce time wastage. They will conforms the all details of candidate resume and check candidate skills either he/she is suitable for the job requirements. So give your complete information to them in a proper way. If candidate is suitable to the job description then they will schedule the face to face round.

3. Written Test:
        Written Test will be conducted by the companies to check the candidate skills. It is an easy process of evaluating the candidates. To face this roun we need knowledge on the following:
§  Aptitude and Reasoning
§  Arithmetical ability
§  English Grammar
§  Basic Technical Knowledge


4. Process of Self Introduction

5. Just A Minute (JAM):

          JAM Round is conducted by companies to evaluate candidate communication and language skills. The maximum number of candidates faces big trouble to face this round because we won’t get points to speak about a topic. Here we have some tips to speak about the topic
§  Good Morning, My Name is ___________
§  Now I would like to speak about ___________ (Topic Title)
§  S – Social related or Society related points
§  P – Political related points
§  E – Economic related and Entertainment related points
§  L – Legal related points
§  T – Technical related points
§  Conclusion about the topic
§  Thank you
The above method is called as SPELT Method. If we can implement the topic in this method we can get more points to speak about the topic.

o   About your strengths
o   About your hobbies
o   About your favorite movie or hero
o   About your achievements


6. Group Discussion do and don’t

     The Group Discussion is conducted by the company's to evaluate our Managing Skills and Behaviour with others. Here we have some tips to participate well in GD.
§  Before participating for GD prepare yourself about General Topic
§  Prepare more on Current affairs
§  Initiate the topic if you good knowledge about The Topic
§  Without proper knowledge about the Topic don't initiate it
§  Listing others views and opinions is a good thing
§  Self initiation is important
§  Speak polity and share your knowledge about the Topic
§  Don't divert the topic and don't discuss out of topic
§  Maintain Proper body language like sitting, hand gestures, Etc.
§  Maintain Eye contact with everyone in group
§  Be yourself confident and maintain smile on the face
§  Don't take much time to speak. Give your opinion in 40 - 60 seconds
§  Participate 4 - 6 times in a discussion, Give chance to others
§  Encourage the others who ever sit like stone
§  Don't interrupt others, Listen and appreciate them if they have valuable points
§  Respect others and be with open minded
§  Don't discuss after concluding the Topic.

7. Technical Round:

          The Technical round contains questions about the technologies mentioned in the Resume or CV. Be confident in this round and gives answer for as fast as you know. Don’t give inappropriate answers.

8. H.R. Round:

         HR Interview is almost the last round of selection process in any company. When this stage comes, the first question comes in every job seekers mind is that what kind of questions will interviewer ask in HR Interview? Tacking the questions of interviewer and putting them in clear sentences is a challenging task especially to the fresher who didn’t have prior experience.

2. What are your greatest strengths?
A) Number of answers are good give, but in positive manner. Some good instances are – About your problem solving skills, Ability to work hard, Professional expertise, Leadership skills, Positive attitude, Etc...

3. Do you have any blind spots?
A) Disguise your strength as weakness. Beware this is elimination question, designed to shorten the candidate list.

4. Why should I hire you?
A) Try to know the interviewer’s greatest needs and demands, this question will give you advantage over other candidates and give him best facts for hiring you than someone else.

5. Where do you see yourself five years from now?
A) Don’t be too specific. Make assure interviewer that you want to make a long term commitment with that organization and this is exact position you are looking for.

6.  How would you be an asset to our organization?
A) Highlight and let them know about your strengths. This is exact question where you can win their heart and with confidence.

7.  How much salary are you expecting?
A) As a fresher I don’t have proper knowledge about salary package. Now I am looking for opportunity to prove myself. As per your company norms I will agree for the package whatever you provide for this position.

8. What do you know about our company?
A) Highlight the career growth of employees in that company and explain about what is the knowledge do you have about the company

9.  How long will you work in this company?
A) As a fresher now I am thinking to grab the opportunity to prove my skills. Up to now I didn’t think about leaving the company. I am ready to work for long time.

10.  Do you have any questions for me?

A) Always have some questions prepared for the interviewer. How soon will I be able to join? Etc…
